New Consultation: East Suffolk Placeshaping

Help Shape the Future of Suffolk, including Kesgrave

What is this project all about?

East Suffolk Council (our district's planning authority) is reaching out to redesign the rules that govern how our towns are built. They call this "Placeshaping."

Essentially, the District Council wants to know which specific parts of Kesgrave are working well and which parts feel "broken." Instead of planners in an office making guesses, they are using this project to gather real-world evidence from the people who walk our streets every day.

Why does Kesgrave need to be involved? If we don't speak up now, future planning policies for housing, transport, and green spaces might not reflect Kesgrave's unique character. This is our chance to ensure our town gets the attention and infrastructure it deserves.

Meet the Planners: Walking Tours

While there isn't a tour scheduled in Kesgrave, the walks in Woodbridge, Framlingham, and Leiston are the best way to meet the East Suffolk project team in person.

These 90-minute tours (21–23 April) allow you to walk and talk with the experts. It’s an ideal chance to:

  • Lobby the team directly about Kesgrave's specific needs.
  • Explore how our neighbouring towns are planning their own future.
  • See "Placeshaping" in action before the consultation closes.

FAQs: Everything you need to know

Who is East Suffolk Council?
They are the District-level authority responsible for "Planning Policy." While Kesgrave Town Council looks after local matters, East Suffolk makes the big decisions on where new estates, roads, and large-scale infrastructure are built.
What exactly is "Placeshaping"?
It’s a fancy word for community-led planning. Instead of building things and hoping for the best, it’s about looking at a "place" (like Kesgrave) as a whole and making sure the buildings, streets, and spaces work together to make life better for residents.
How long does it take to join in?
Dropping a pin on the map takes less than 60 seconds. The full survey takes about 5–10 minutes. The deadline to have your say is Friday 24 April 2026.

Don't leave it to chance. Leave it to your feedback.
