A new survey has been launched giving residents the opportunity to help shape the future of councils and public services across Suffolk.

The initiative is part of the Government’s wider plan to reshape and streamline local councils to save money, reduce confusion, and improve the delivery of services for residents.

About the survey

The survey explores how local democracy could work in the future — including how residents currently raise issues, how local decision-making might be improved, and how people would like to be involved in shaping their communities.

It also seeks feedback on the potential reorganisation of councils in Suffolk, asking for opinions on how services could be better managed and coordinated to meet local needs.

Why it matters

Responses from this survey will help Suffolk County Council and its partners develop a comprehensive business plan outlining the best options for how councils and public services could be organised. The findings will inform the Government’s decision on which proposals will go forward for formal public consultation later this year.

The goal is to create a more efficient, accessible, and transparent local government structure that works for residents, businesses, and communities throughout Suffolk.

Have your say

The survey is open for eight weeks, until 4 August 2025. All Suffolk residents, community organisations, and local businesses are encouraged to take part and share their views.
