Important Changes to Recycling in Kesgrave
Your Guide to East Suffolk's New Four-Bin System and Local Recycling Options
Kesgrave Town Council wishes to inform residents about significant updates to waste and recycling services across East Suffolk, implemented by East Suffolk Council and the Suffolk Waste Partnership. These changes, which came into effect from June 2026, are designed to make recycling easier and to significantly reduce landfill waste.
This page provides essential information on the new system, accessible resources, and local opportunities for recycling and re-use within our community.
Accessible Bin Stickers for Visually-Impaired Residents
East Suffolk Council, in collaboration with the Suffolk Waste Partnership and Suffolk Sight, has developed a set of unique bin lid stickers to assist visually-impaired residents in distinguishing between different waste and recycling bins. Kesgrave Town Council encourages all residents who may benefit from these, or know someone who might, to request them.
How to Obtain Your Stickers:
Stickers are available upon request by contacting East Suffolk Council Customer Services:
- Email: customerservices@eastsuffolk.gov.uk
- Phone: 0333 016 2000
Each sticker features a raised yellow shape for tactile identification:
- Raised Yellow Circle: For your new outdoor grey food container.
- Raised Yellow Square: For your new green-lidded bin (paper and card recycling).
- Raised Yellow Triangle: For your blue-lidded bin (all other recycling, including tins, cartons, glass bottles and jars, and plastic containers, trays and film).
If you represent an organisation serving clients, please help spread awareness of these helpful bin stickers.
Your New Four-Bin Recycling System
The revised waste and recycling services, introduced by East Suffolk Council from June 2026, allow for a wider range of items to be recycled directly from your doorstep. This new system means more efficient recycling and a substantial reduction in waste sent to landfill.
Please note: In May 2026, East Suffolk Council sent every household a detailed information pack and a new collection calendar. Until then, residents were asked to keep their new bins tucked away.
