About this item
Overview
The Asset Register lists the Council’s fixed assets (property, plant, equipment, and other long-term items) used to deliver local services. It provides assurance of the continued existence of Council property and supports the completion of the Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR).
Purpose and Use
The Asset Register is a key governance and financial record that helps the Council:
- Complete Box 9 of the Annual Governance & Accountability Return (AGAR).
- Manage risk and ensure adequate insurance coverage.
- Plan for asset replacement and maintenance.
- Maintain transparency and accountability for public property.
Valuation Basis
Assets are recorded at their original purchase cost and are not depreciated annually. Land, community assets, and gifted items are recorded at a nominal £1 value where appropriate. Year-to-year movements reflect new acquisitions and disposals, rather than depreciation.
2024/25 Summary
The total asset value at 31 March 2025 is £1,228,198. This represents an increase of £7,167 from the previous year, reflecting new acquisitions and minor disposals during the financial year.
