How Kesgrave Town Council uses CCTV to protect staff, residents, and property
The CCTV Policy 2025–2028 (formally titled Data Protection Policy – Use of CCTV) explains how Kesgrave Town Council operates and manages its CCTV systems in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
The policy outlines how CCTV is used to prevent crime, protect Council property, promote safety, and support law enforcement while respecting individuals’ privacy rights.

Cameras are positioned to capture only what is necessary for public safety and security. The Council does not use CCTV inside buildings or for monitoring staff performance.
All CCTV locations display clear signage stating that CCTV is in operation. Copies of this policy are available on request or can be downloaded below.
Individuals can request access to footage in which they appear by submitting a Subject Access Request (SAR). Complaints about CCTV operation are handled in line with the Council’s Complaints Policy and Procedure.
