Policy Scope

All initial enquiries are referred to East Suffolk Council (ESC), which oversees applications under its Strategic Compliance and Enforcement Policy covering environmental health, food safety, and statutory nuisances. Kesgrave Town Council applies its own assessment criteria for use of its land.

Assessment Criteria

  • Compliance with land lease or covenant restrictions
  • Proximity to residential areas (noise, odours, parking, safety)
  • Resident feedback and community impact
  • Limited trading hours – short sessions preferred
  • Litter and environmental management
  • Only one vendor permitted at a time
  • Healthy food options encouraged
  • Environmental impact and local competition considered
  • Trading limited to once or twice weekly where appropriate

Agreements and Monitoring

If approved, a rent agreement will set terms for setup, trading, and clearing away. The Council monitors compliance and may terminate the agreement with one month’s notice.

Designated Location

One fast food vendor is permitted on the Council car park at Ferguson Way on Thursdays, 4pm–8pm. Due to planning and land restrictions, this site is limited to one vendor only.
