Overview

The Grant Approval Policy and Procedure 2025–2028 explains how Kesgrave Town Council awards grants to voluntary and community organisations that benefit local residents. The Council aims to strengthen Kesgrave’s community networks by supporting projects that improve wellbeing, opportunity, and the local environment.

Aims and Objectives

The grant scheme helps to:

  • Encourage local people to take part in voluntary groups and activities.
  • Support community organisations that provide valued services to Kesgrave residents.
  • Assist groups addressing social or economic difficulties within the town.
  • Promote projects that enhance Kesgrave’s environment or community facilities.
  • Achieve best value for public funds and transparency in all funding decisions.

Eligibility and Application Process

Voluntary organisations, charities, and community groups can apply for funding by completing the Grant Application Form available from the Town Council Office or on the Council’s website. Applications are accepted throughout the year and assessed within approximately three months. Applicants must show how their project benefits Kesgrave residents and submit financial information such as recent accounts or a bank statement.

The Council normally considers one-off grants of up to £2,000 but may support larger requests or ongoing service agreements if appropriate.

Grant Conditions

  • Funds must be used for the purpose stated in the application unless the Council agrees otherwise in writing.
  • Grants should be spent within 12 months of receipt and acknowledged publicly (e.g. via the organisation’s website, social media, or local publications).
  • Recipients must attend the next Annual Town Meeting to provide a brief report on how the grant was used.
  • Failure to meet conditions may require repayment of the grant in part or in full.

Annual Funding and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

Kesgrave Town Council may enter into annual funding agreements with organisations that provide essential community services in Kesgrave. Examples include youth services, library support, or community advice services. Groups interested in an SLA should contact the Town Clerk to arrange an initial meeting.

Decision and Approval Process

Eligible applications are reviewed by the Finance and Governance Committee, which recommends awards to Full Council for approval. Funding decisions depend on the availability of budget and the extent to which each application benefits Kesgrave residents.

Accountability and Contact

The Council reserves the right to request evidence of expenditure and to publish a summary of grants awarded each year in its Annual Report. For application forms or further information, please email  enquiry@kesgravetowncouncil.gov.uk
