Overview

Following the recent resignation of Town Councillor Andy Skinner, a vacancy has arisen for a Councillor in the East Ward of Kesgrave Town Council. In accordance with the Local Government Act 1972, a Notice of Vacancy has been issued, inviting residents to request an election if they wish.

Election or Co-option

If ten or more electors from the East Ward formally request an election within the statutory period, the Returning Officer at East Suffolk Council will arrange for a by-election to be held. If no election request is received by the deadline, Kesgrave Town Council will fill the vacancy by co-option at a future meeting. Details of the co-option process and eligibility requirements will then be published on the Council’s website and noticeboards.
